Braves Take Down Rivals on Wednesday Night

We have four more games folks…four.  Then, we’ll say goodbye to Turner Field.  The Atlanta Braves put on a show on Wednesday night as they took down the Philadelphia Phillies 12-2.  Not only did the Braves win the ball game, but that win also gave the Braves the season series victory over the Phillies.

Atlanta improved to 65-92 for the 2016 season and looking back, we’re 47-46 after that horrific 18-46 start to the 2016 season.  Also with that win, the Braves are now in a three-way tie with the Diamondbacks and Rays for the 2nd worst record in the MLB.

Mike Foltynewicz was on the mound for the Braves for the first time in two weeks.  He was out after getting hit in the calf by a ball.  He actually put together a really solid start.  He kept the Phillies batters off-balance and had a good mixture of pitches all night.

He got into trouble in the 5th inning as he allowed a leadoff walk and another walk with one out, but was able to get the final two outs with any damage.

More from Braves News

On Wednesday Folty went five innings, gave up two hits, one run, three walks and had five strikeouts.

The 24-year-old has had a roller coaster of a season for the Braves.  We’ve seen him be outstanding, we’ve seen him struggle really bad, we’ve seen him give up huge leads and hold big leads.  He finished the season 9-5 with a 4.31 ERA.

“It was a great way to finish his year,” Snitker said of Folty.  “I think that was a pretty good place to end right there.  He’s come a long way this year, accomplished a lot, he’s in a good spot.  Strong, feeling good about things and I sure feel good about him right now.”

The Braves offense is clicking and it’s great to see.  Atlanta had double digits in both hits and runs as they had 13 hits and 12 runs.  Freddie Freeman continues his hitting streak and is now at 30 games….outstanding!

“You take it for granted now with this guy, he’s a machine,” Snit said of Freddie.  “He’s pretty good.”

Braves prospect, Rio Ruiz — or “Double R” because Joe Simpson can’t say his name — came into the game to start the 8th inning and youngster hit a triple to center field!

“Rio gets his first hit, which his cool for him,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said about his team.  “Daniel hasn’t played since we called him back up, except for a few pinch hits a couple times, and had a really good night.  Dansby swung the bat well. Freddie continued his hit streak.  Matt gets his 34th homer.  A lot of really good things.”

Braves continue to play well and we’re lovin’ it!  Our last 10 games?  Braves are 9-1!

“That’s pretty good, we’re going to keep adding onto that,” Snitker said about being .500 in the second half of the 2016 season.  “We’re going to go out and win tomorrow.”

Next: Filling Out The Lineup Card From All-Turner Team

The Braves will send Josh Collmenter to the mound on Thursday and the Phils will have Jeremy Hellickson pitching.  Since joining the Braves, Collmenter has started two games and has won both of them as he’s allowed nine hits, four runs, five walks and 12 strikeouts.  Three of the four runs he’s given up have been homers so if he can just reduce that, he’ll be just fine!

See yal tomorrow!
