All-Star Voting Has Begun, Let’s Vote Some Braves Players In!

Everyone’s favorite time of year…right?!?  Well, not typically.  All-Star voting starts out fun and we always want to get as many Atlanta Braves players in that we can, but it kinda gets obnoxious as the weeks pass by.

Is it just me or does the MLB start this voting way too early?  The All-Star game will be on July 11th this year which means we are over three months away from the game actually being played.

I get it, the MLB wants as many voters as possible and it’s a great way for fans to interact, but come on!

More from Braves News

My argument starts with the amount of games played so far.  The Braves have played 24 games (some teams have played a few more) so far this season.  Is that enough to judge if a player should or shouldn’t be getting votes?  I don’t think so.

However, we have no say in when this process actually starts so we have to go with it.  We’ve got to show our support for our team and guys…the ones worthy of this honor, only a month into the season.

Here are few worthy candidates from the Braves that I think we should definitely be voted in because of the first month of the season.

Catcher – Tyler Flowers: .380/.466/.420, two doubles, nine RBIs, three runs scored, thrown out five of nine base stealers

First base – Freddie Freeman: .379/.486/.793, seven doubles, one triple, nine homers, 14 RBIs, 24 runs scored, four stolen bases, 16 walks

Left Field – Matt Kemp: .350/.371/.767, seven doubles, six homers, 16 RBIs, nine runs scored,

Here are few worthy candidates from the Braves that I think we should have a chance to be voted in because of the first month of the season.

Second Base – Brandon Phillips: .338/.369/.475, five doubles, two homers, 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored, five stolen bases.

Outfield – Ender Inciarte: .240/.282/.433, five doubles, five homers, 12 RBIs, 19 runs scored, seven stolen bases.  Inciarte hasn’t hit for average so far, but he could get some votes because of the defense he brings to the team.

Outfield – Nick Markakis: .297/.375/.418, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 12 RBIs, 14 runs scored, 10 walks.  Markakis has quietly put together a solid opening month.

Sorry pitching staff, right now — other than Mike Foltynewicz, but doesn’t have the stats — no one is All-Star worthy.
