The premier All-Star game of all major US pro sports is messed up.  Given the direction that MLB is taking this, there’s no chance of a change either… unless it comes from the grassroots.

Atlanta Braves‘ fans had to at least get a smile on their faces as the first of five(!!) All-Star game NL voting updates was released yesterday … and the names of 3 Braves were named among the top-ish vote getters.

Unfortunately – as usual – most of the best performing players this season aren’t getting the votes.

Once again, the large markets are dominating the voting – big shock, I’m sure – and there’s a continued boost to the Cubs, as they continue to enjoy their World Series spoils.

Here are those voting leaders right now:

So 3½ Cubs, 2 Nats, a Dodger, a Giant and a Rockie.  In fact, all of the Cubs are either 1st or 2nd in the balloting… except for the outfielders, who are 3rd, 4th, AND 5th.

Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman is well back in 3rd place, Brandon Phillips is also 3rd but even further back, and Matt Kemp is 6th among outfielders.

Here’s the full run-down:

But… who REALLY should be going to Miami in July??
