Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Braves beat the Mets, the Braves beat the Mets, the Braves beat the Mets!! Everyone do a little dance!  Atlanta Braves improved to 27-32 in the 2017 season and the Mets fell to 25-33.  Oh, how great it is!  You know Chipper Jones is loving it too.

Let’s get to the game…did you see the ending!?!

I’ll tell you what, Julio Teheran may have found his stride.  And you know what?  It could be all in the catcher.  Kurt Suzuki caught Teheran last night instead of Tyler Flowers.  How can you not be a fan of both of these catchers right now because of what they’re doing at the plate, but maybe Teheran has a preference with who’s catching him and calling his pitches.

It’s a shame Teheran didn’t pick up the victory last night because he did pitch well…maybe the best all season.

The Braves scored two runs in the 6th inning when Matt Kemp led off with a double.  After the Mets got two quick outs, they intentionally walked Danny Santana to get to Dansby Swanson.  Go ahead and do that Mets!  Swanson made them pay for that as he drilled a double down the left field line.  This base hit plated both Kemp and Santana and put the Braves ahead 2-1.

Yeah, yeah…the Mets scored a run in the 7th inning to tie the game off Jason Motte, but let’s jump ahead to the bottom of the 9th inning.

Mets and Braves tied 2-2.  One out, Swanson back at the plate.  He blasts a pitch right back where it came from, up the middle, and looked like he picked up a one-out single.  NOPE!  Swanson hustled his way and somehow slide into second base safely.  I think it caught everyone off guard, but it really pumped up everyone!

On the next pitch, Rio Ruiz slapped the pitch between third and short and Swanson (somehow caught his breathe enough) hustled again around third base and scored the winning run.  I’m not sure what I yelled, but I know I woke up my sleeping wife and dog….but it was worth the explanation!

Braves WIN 3-2

Between-innings race ends in a phenomenal fail for Braves fan

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: This video is actually hilarious…I’ve probably replayed it 20 times already.  Take a look at this race in the video below.  The fan looks as though he’s going to beat The Freeze in the race, but somehow — the Braves must have gotten Usain Bolt to come out to last night’s game — Freeze catches up to the fan and overtakes him with just steps to go.

We may have to check this Freeze character out for performance enhancers because that dude was flying around the warning track.  The video shows the fan getting a pretty nice jump on Freeze and the fan looked to be running pretty fast.  Freeze is just insanely fast and catches up at the last second.  Make sure you watch the slo-mo shot of the fan falling, that’s the best.  The look on his face when he turns around and sees Freeze there is priceless.

Once again the Braves make the news for something other than on the field play…oh well, at least I laughed at this video.

"It seemed like a great idea at the time. Heck, he even got a lengthy head start. But things didn’t end well for one fan at SunTrust Park on Friday night. One lucky Braves fan was chosen to beat The Freeze in a race around the warning track between innings. However, The Freeze was much faster than that fan anticipated, and that fan was much more confident than anyone would have advised. And all he got for his trouble was a face full of dirt. Here’s the painful proof:"

Medlen good in his G-Braves return, but not good enough in 3-0 Charlotte win

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Have you heard?!?  The Braves promoted starting pitcher Kris Medlen to Triple-A Gwinnett this past week and started last night’s game for the GBraves.  It wasn’t the outcome he wanted, but did show some promise in the start.

Medlen pitched 5.2 innings, gave up five hits, three runs, three walks and had six strikeouts.  The positive was that he didn’t give up a run until the top of the 5th inning when the top prospect in all of baseball Yoan Moncada hit a home run off him.  In the following inning, Medlen gave up back-to-back singles to start the inning.  Then, Medlen was able to get two outs with a strikeout and a ground out.  It then went from bad to worse…Medlen hit Ronald Bueno with a pitch and then gave up a single to Jason Bourgeois (those two were Charlotte’s eight and nine hitters) to score two runs.  His night was over after that.

Definitely, a solid start from Medlen as he continues to push towards another stint in Atlanta.  It would be fantastic if somehow he could battle through and join us up here!  Everyone is pulling for this guy and I think even Brian Snitker is too.  He said in a few weeks, he could join the roster.  Already thinking ahead!

Oh, yeah.  One more thing…did you see this catch by Jace Peterson?!?  Check it out below.

My bad, one more thing I promise…how about this posted by the Gwinnett Braves last night…”Mauricio Cabrera reaches 101 mph on his 5th pitch of the night then strikes out Carson Blair with a 99 mph fastball”

"As the latest start in his attempt to make it back to the major leagues, Friday night’s outing was important enough for pitcher Kris Medlen."

"Unfortunately for Medlen and the Gwinnett Braves, he didn’t get the same result Friday night as his first outing at Coolray Field some eight years ago, as Charlotte got a home run from consensus No. 1 prospect Yoan Moncada to pave the way for a 3-0 victory before a crowd of 3,472."

"Medlen’s outing may have been better than his final line indicated — five hits, including the homer run to Moncada, three earned runs, three walks, two hit batsmen and six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings."
