The Atlanta Braves, and all of Major League Baseball, will participate in the first ever, Players Weekend. What does that mean? Well, it means fun.

Major League Baseball and the Atlanta Braves unveiled the uniforms and color schemes for all 30 MLB teams for the upcoming Players Weekend.

The Braves uniforms and color scheme have many split on whether they like it or not. However, I’m not too up-in-arms over the color. I kind of like it.

What I absolutely love as a fan, and I’m sure the players do as well, is the freedom to have nicknames stitched on the back, in lieu of the traditional last name.

So when Tyler Flowers walks up to the plate, you won’t see “FLOWERS” arching across the back. Instead, it will read “FLOW”. Neither will you see “MARKAKIS” on Nick Markakis‘ jersey, but simply “TTT”, as a tribute to his children who all have names beginning with “T”.

Along with the jerseys, players will have the freedom to wear what ever miscellaneous gear they choose. Arm sleeves, cleats, undershirts (for warm ups and post game interviews). The players are being given the weekend to freely express themselves however they like.

That hat though!

I’m digging that bright color. Speaking of bright color, there’s a reason for that.

According to MLB, the premise of this weekend (to be observed from 25 August to 27 August) the theme of the weekend will be youth inspired.

It looks to be a fun-filled weekend across all of baseball. Although, one of the more interesting ideas rests on the right sleeve.

There, a white, partially blank patch will be attached. On this patch, players can write in a name or organization who influenced the player most.

Also, another cool piece, is the MLB Batter-man logo has been replaced with an evolutionary logo. The idea “which symbolizes solidarity with local youth baseball and softball organizations”, looks awesome.

Mark Bowman, Braves MLB.com beat writer, penned a piece highlighting the Braves uniforms for that weekend and MLB.com writer Mark Newman wrote openly about the weekend itself, for all MLB teams.

Next: Camar-GONE .... to the 10-Day DL

I for one am looking forward to the fun this weekend will bring. It promises to be relaxed compared to the daily monotony of the same old thing.
