Braves front office in limbo of who’s in charge?

Something that has always been in the back of my mind looks like it may be coming to the forefront….who’s actually running the club for the Atlanta Braves?

Ken Rosenthal’s recent post suggested a “power struggle” within the Braves organization.  That’s something I’ve front confusing for quite some time now.  John Hart, John Coppolella, John Schuerholtz?  Who has the final say?

As these issues may seem small — since it’s always seemed like they work together on everything — it could work its way into a larger issue.

Ken writes in his post that one team official told him…

"“It’s a power struggle over who is running the club. Is John Schuerholz running the club or are John Hart and John Coppolella running it?”"

Heading into the 2017 offseason, many big names will be out there in the free agent world.  If one John likes one player over another John, who will get the final say if they can’t work things out?

This situation happens in every business, right?  We all want to know who’s in charge and who can we go to for that executive decision.

Is this a big deal?  Maybe not.  As John Hart disputed that rumor.  But it could turn into one.

Other moves within the organization

In Rosenthal’s article, he also suggests that the Braves will be making organizational moves soon.  These could be minor moves within the franchise, but could make a major impact.

Dom Chiti, Atlanta’s current Director of Pitching, will become Farm Director.  Dave Wallace, the current Special Assistant to Chiti, will be promoted to Director of Pitching.  Dave Trembly, the current Farm Director, will be relegated to Field Coordinator.

Next: Should Ozzie Albies hit leadoff?

Ken also says in his post that Special Assistants to the GM Rick Williams, Roy Clark, and Billy Ryan will all receive new titles.

None of these moves have been officially announced by the Atlanta Braves, but Ken Rosenthal is a pretty decent source.
