Promotional efforts are going too far

Every baseball team in Major League Baseball runs unique promotions throughout the year.  The main reason?  Each team is hopeful of drawing additional fans to the game that night to increase the attendance.  The Atlanta Braves are no slouch either when it comes to promotional giveaways either.

The Braves run promotions like Friday Night Fireworks, magnet schedule giveaways, player bobblehead nights and Alumni Sundays.  However, there are a few promotions the Braves are running with what appears to be the hopes of bringing in college football fans.  But this could be going too far, especially when it is a night where the Braves are promoting the Clemson Tigers football team!

Clemson Night is Questionable

Clemson did win the National Championship in college football in 2017, but first of all, what does that have to do with the Atlanta Braves.  Clemson is in South Carolina, the Atlanta Braves play in Georgia.

More from Braves News

Clemson is located only about two hours from SunTrust Park, but on a Tuesday night, tomorrow, September 5th, the day after a long holiday weekend, the Braves will have ‘Clemson Night’.  Now the College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy will be on hand to take pictures with, but how many of these fans in attendance will actually be Clemson Tigers’ fans?  Unless these fans are taking an extended vacation from the holiday weekend for the game, very few.

Now what those fans might be coming to see is Atlanta Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley.  Beasley , drafted eight overall in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Falcons, is a former player for the Clemson Tigers who will be throwing out the first pitch.  It is pretty interesting to see how the marketing department is able to weave in different things to tie Clemson, the Braves and Falcons all together for one night.

You can go to www.braves.com/clemson to find out more information, but for the Braves to see a huge spike in attendance of actual Clemson graduates and fans, it might be a long shot.  Those in attendance will be there to see the National Championship trophy and Vic Beasley.
