Braves prospects are set up to shine in Arizona Fall League
Since there hasn’t been any news since the final out of the 2017 season for the Atlanta Braves — cough, Coppy, cough — why don’t we talk about the Arizona Fall League and our young stars who are set to shine.
Braves have sent eight players to the AFL to play for the Peoria Javelinas. Four pitchers and four positional players. That group is led by our top prospect and one of the top prospects in all of baseball…Ronald Acuna.

AFL Schedule
The Arizona Fall League started on Tuesday, October 10th and will run through Saturday, November 18th. Teams will play Monday through Saturday and will have an off day on Sunday. Most days, there’s usually two games that start at 12:35pm and than another game that starts at 6:35pm.
Game One of 2017
The Atlanta Braves front office doesn’t have much to smile about these days, but hopefully they were able to get a little smile today. The Braves players dominating the first Peoria game.
Let’s talk about the offense first. Acuna batted first for Peoria and played center field. Another side note, Acuna is wearing #34. Riley batted second and played third base. Jackson played catcher and hit fifth.
Acuna went 2-4 with two singles and a run scored. The 19-year-old was caught stealing second base, but shhhh.
Riley went 0-4 with three strikeouts — one looking, two swinging — and a fly out to center.
Jackson went 0-3 with two pop-outs and grounded into a double play.
Peoria’s offense scored three runs in their way to a victory.
We’re currently don’t know why Peoria’s manager Luis Salazar didn’t play Jared James…what the heck?!?
The offense wasn’t the highlight of Tuesday though, it was the pitching. And the Braves pitchers threw extremely well.
All four Braves pitchers who are pitching in this league threw on Tuesday. Max Fried started the game, Touki Toussaint came in relief, then Josh Graham and Corbin Clouse.
The four-some of Braves young arms struck out 16 hitters, gave up five hits, three walks, and no runs in eight innings pitched.
Fried – three innings, three hits, one walk and seven strikeouts
Toussaint – two innings, no hits, one walk and four strikeouts
Graham – one inning, one hit, no walks and two strikeouts
Clouse – two innings, one hit, one walk and three strikeouts

Who are you most impressed with?!?
Fried started the game off throwing 35 of his 53 pitches for strikes. The 23-year-old looks to have a big AFL in hopes to earn a 2018 starting rotation spot for the Atlanta Braves.
Back at it tomorrow! Game is scheduled for 12:35pm ET. Peoria will be throwing a familiar name now pitching for the Seattle Mariners…Max Povse.
