For 2018, the Atlanta Braves will rock some new head gear, especially when on the road

Last spring training, the Atlanta Braves debuted a brand new cap design with a tomahawk across the center. This season, the Braves will wear the ‘Tomahawk’ caps for home games and a newly designed lowercase ‘a’ hat with red bill. Also, according to Grant McAuley, the Braves will wear them during the regular season as well.

The announcement came along with MLB unveiling new cap designs for the entire league on Monday.

And in case you were wondering, yes, they are available on MLB Shop now. So you can nab one just in time for the holiday season… which I’m pretty sure the marketing folks over at MLB had in mind.

The caps are part of New Era’s PROLIGHT 59FIFTY which are supposedly much lighter than previous ones, using ‘featherweight polyester material’. The matte finish look is visibly different from the Diamond Era material look in recent cap designs.

More from Tomahawk Take

The front logo will be a rubber badge instead of the traditional sewn/embroidered logos. Along with this, is a silicone printed New Era flag logo.

Some of the other teams that will debut new designs include the Philadelphia Phillies which will feature the Liberty Bell for their design while the Texas Rangers will have the state of Texas behind their traditional ‘T’.

The Braves design changes aren’t so drastic and the tomahawk design was around used last season but nonetheless still looks good.

There hasn’t been anything on jerseys so far but are expected to remain the same as last season.
