Braves first baseman, Freeman, had surgery this offseason

A few days ago, while stalking folks on Instagram…because that’s what everyone does, right?  I noticed something different about Freddie Freeman in photos — Freddie’s wife, Chelsea, gives us a glimpse of their personal life through her Instagram page.

The Atlanta Braves first baseman had a clean look to him in recent photos.  He wasn’t wearing his glasses.  I thought it was interesting and he looked good, but didn’t think twice about it.  Thought maybe he was just taking them off for photos.  Nope.

Freeman had Lasik eye surgery this offseason.

This isn’t a major surgery as many coworkers of mine have had the procedure done and had no issues.  It’s actually been very beneficial for them.  No more worrying about eye contacts or glasses.

This news came out on Saturday during the Braves FanFest at the SunTrust Park.

Freeman also answered questions about his wrist.  Remember that nagging injury from 2017? Yeah, we all want to forget about that one, but wrist injuries suck and seem to take forever to heel.

Freddie battled through the pain late in the season and finished off the year with a slash line of .307/.403/.586 with 28 homers.  The 28-year-old was off to an MVP-type season until he was struck on the wrist by Toronto Blue Jay’s pitcher Aaron Loup.

2018 will be the season for Freddie!  I’m calling it!

Here’s a shot of Freddie without glasses…posted by Dan Uggla’s wife after Chipper Jones was officially inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame on Thursday.
