Braves Albies expects to have huge season in Atlanta

Some call it cocky, some call it confidence.  I love every bit of what Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies has done this offseason.

Albies is that exciting player and fun personality we’re all going to tune in for every night.  He’s the type of player that will make your eyebrows raise, your mouth to drop, and your hands the clap very loudly.

The switch hitter will probably be slotted into the number two-hole in the Braves lineup on Opening Day and will be our primary second baseman — for now — in 2018.

ACT 1 – What he did in 2017

The 21-year-old is entering his first full-season in the MLB after a very successful final two months in 2017.  After debuting on August 1, 2017 Albies played in 57 games with a slash line of .286/.354/.456 with six home runs, five triples, nine doubles, 28 RBIs, 34 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

Those numbers impress me quite a bit.  What says you?

Albies himself though?  He’s not satisfied.

ACT 2 – What he did this offseason

If you’re not following Albies on Instagram, you’re missing out.  He’s become one of my favorite followers on there.  It seemed like every other day this offseason, he was posting another video of him either working out or hitting in the cages.

Just skip on over the videos that he takes of himself driving.  Those do scare me and I wish he stops that, but who am I to tell him.

The work he has displayed this offseason shows me he wants it badly.  He’s going to be fun to watch in 2018 and beyond!

ACT 3 – What he wants to do in 2018

During ChopFest on Sunday, Albies told 929 The Game’s Grant McAuley — @grantmcauley — he’s setting his goals for the 2018 pretty high.  In fact, very high.

“200 hits and steal 40+ bags”

Next: Braves team rankings and goals for 2018

I hear that comment, I check last years stats and I see what he’s been doing this offseason…I’m drafted Ozzie Albies pretty high in fantasy baseball.

I haven’t checked fantasy baseball rankings yet for 2018, but hopefully they’re not ranking him high.  I’d love Ozzie Albies as a sleeper pick and then he just explodes!
