Braves changed their blue color just a little bit, but it’s the first change in a while

The Atlanta Braves have changed the blue in the color scheme just a tad and it’s something the human eye wouldn’t even be able to pick up…but the change has been made.

An official announcement has not been made by the Braves, but the fabric company that makes the uniforms has wrote the linked article.

Though minuscule, this would be the first change to the colors since 1987…30 years!

The change — the blue and the gold are both darker.  Yup, that’s all, but it’s a change.

So the change is the outside boarding of the Braves name as well as the tomahawk.

In the article, the says it’s the same shade of blue that was used for the uniforms when the Braves came to Atlanta from Milwaukee in 1966.  A little throwback retro feel the Braves are going for?

Here’s a quote from the article from to founder and editor of ColorWerx  sports, Donovan Moore…

"“My take on it is that they’re doing this primarily to match the uniform manufacturer’s stock fabrics and threads. This is why we saw a slew of colour changes in the NFL back in 2012 when Nike took over the uniform contract. [The new Navy blue] is a much more standardized colour and probably eliminates the disconnect between the print/digital format and what is worn on-field”"

Next: Atlanta Braves might rethink repurposing Rio Ruiz

The change to a darker Navy blue color is to match the fabrics of the caps.  So it sounds like the hats were this color and the logos are just going to change.

Not known yet are the road blue jerseys, but I’m guessing these would change as well or they have already been this color and they won’t be modified.

Does this mean go out and buy yourself a whole new wardrobe?  No, this change is so minor.  But like I said above, a change is a change.

Let’s just say we’re okay with this change…since none of us will notice unless you do a side-by-side comparison.  Now, though, I’m going to be studying the jerseys looking for these updates!
