Atlanta Braves lineup against the New York Mets with RHP Brandon McCarthy starting
By Jeff Schafer
Braves lineup will look like this against the Mets on Wednesday
A tie is so strange in baseball. Yes, we see these every year during Spring Training, but they’re still weird to me. But that’s what happened on Tuesday afternoon with the Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Usually if a game is tied in the 9th inning during the spring, the two managers talk about if they’d like to play another inning or not. If one of the managers has an extra pitcher they’d like to throw, then they’ll play one more inning. Spring Training games normally don’t go past one extra inning.
After a 3-3 game in the 9th, Braves manager Brian Snitker and Pirates manager Clint Hurdle decided to call it quits.
So we move on. The Pirates still haven’t won a game this year and the Braves now sit at 1-3-1 for the spring season.
The Braves will play the 2-2 New York Mets on Wednesday with Brandon McCarthy starting for us and Matt Harvey starting for the Mets. This will be each pitchers first start of 2018.
The 34-year-old, McCarthy, is looking to be a solid rotation guy for the Braves this season. The veteran starting pitcher was traded for on December 16, 2017 along with Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Charlie Culberson and cash in exchange for Matt Kemp.
Speaking of Matt Kemp…he’s played in three games this spring and is batting .286 with a home run and three RBIs. It’s going to be interesting to see how much the Dodgers use him this year and what he can do for them.

Toussaint must have been added to the Spring Training roster today. He’s not on the 40-man roster nor the non-invitees list. Another one of Braves young pitchers who is extremely good at what he does. He’s currently 13th on MLB’s top Braves prospects.
I’m excited to see Biddle get another inning or so on the mound. Also Allard and Pfeifer get another inning. These three lefties are all going to be something to keep an eye on.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm ET today. This game will not be televised, but you can listen to it on WIFN 1340 AM or 103.7FM.
