Braves Albies crushes ball over RF wall

Atlanta Braves second baseman, Ozzie Albies, absolutely destroys a baseball on Saturday afternoon.  It was his third home run of the 2018 Spring Training, trying him with catcher Rob Brantley for second on the Braves behind some prospect named Ronald Acuna…who has four.

The 21-year-old hit the bomb against New York Yankees right-handed pitcher Luis Severino in the bottom of the 4th inning.  This tied the game against the Yankees 2-2.

Albies is now batting .302 with eight RBIs, eight runs scored, one double, one triple, three homers and three stolen bases.  He seems ready for the 2018 regular season!

If you haven’t had your fantasy baseball draft yet, I recommend not waiting on Albies.  People are beginning to recognize he’s a very good hitter.  I’m thinking he could end the 2018 season as one of the top 5 second baseman in fantasy.  He’s definitely no longer a sleeper pick.  Go get him!

It looks as though Albies has secured the second spot in the Braves lineup for the near future.  That puts him in a very good spot behind Ender Inciarte and in front of Freddie Freeman.  He’s going to be able to get RBI opportunities with Inciarte always being on base and to rake in a bunch of runs scored with Freeman.

These young Braves are on their way and it’s going to be fun to watch going forward.  Yes, we’ve got to wait until around April 13-16 (not sure when the Braves will call him up) for Acuna, but this team is going to be fun to watch throughout the season.

Nick Markakis said on the FOX Sports broadcast today that with the young kids already here, the youngsters on the way and the young pitchers, “we’re there” and ready for the year.  I’m still holding on hope that this could be a year we’re fighting for a Wild Card spot.
