Back off a cold road trip filled with delays and postponements, the Braves were back home at SunTrust Park to start the week.

The Atlanta Braves (9-6) hosted the Philadelphia Phillies Monday night in National League East action, and a solid pitching performance turned out to be the difference in a 2-1 win for the home team.

Julio Teheran took the hill for Atlanta looking to exorcise some of his SunTrust Park demons, and finished with a solid line through six innings. Teheran gave up only one run on five hits, striking out nine and walking only three batters. Not surprisingly, the only earned run off Julio came in the form of a solo homer.

The Braves and Phillies each got a run in the first inning and Atlanta added another in the fourth, giving Teheran a 2-1 lead when he left the game.

Atlanta’s fourth inning run came off some nifty base running from the speedy Ozzie Albies, who scored after tagging up on a shallow fly ball off the bat of Kurt Suzuki.

Shane Carle and A.J. Minter combined to keep the Phillies scoreless in the seventh. Minter stayed on to start the eighth and walked a pair of batters, but worked his way out of the jam to end the inning without any damage.

Vizcaino came on in the ninth, in a save situation, still up 2-1. The inning started with a strikeout, followed by a single and a popup out. Carlos Santana would be the last hope for the Phillies with the tying run on first. He would ground out to end the game, giving the Braves a game one win.

Atlanta pitchers totaled 11 strikeouts, six walks and only the one earned run, helping Saturday’s debacle in Chicago fade into the background a bit as the Braves regain a share of second place (with the Phillies) in the NL East.

The win also breaks Philadelphia’s six game win streak.

Next: When will the Atlanta Braves call up outfielder and top prospect Ronald Acúna Jr?

The Braves and Phillies get back to action for game two in the series Tuesday night in a game schedule for 7:35 p.m. ET from SunTrust Park.  The scheduled pitching matchup is Nick Pivetta vs. Mike Foltynewicz.
