Braves series finale against the first place Mets has been postponed to a later date

Sunday’s series finale with the New York Mets has been postponed until May 28th because of this damn rain storm that’s hitting a lot of the southeast.  Not having the Atlanta Braves game to watch on a Sunday afternoon sucks, but in some ways it’s good news.

Mike Foltynewicz will not be skipped and will start the series opener against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

This game will be rescheduled for Monday, May 28 at 7:10pm ET.  This will be a doubleheader with the Mets as the first game already was scheduled for 1:35pm ET, but now it will move up to 1:10pm ET.  Also, if you’re a Jason Isbell fan or were excited about the concert, you’ll have to wait just a little longer.  He’s now going to be performing after the second game.

Reasons why it’s a good rain out

Okay, first off, I definitely didn’t want this game to be rained out.  The wife is out running errands and I’ve got “house chorus” duties.  I thought we had a break in the cell storm and figured we’d get going around 3pm.  Not the case so I began thinking about the positives.

So let’s walk through a few positives of the rain out…

  1. The Atlanta Braves WIN the series against the Mets!
  2. This gives Freddie Freeman a probably much needed off day.  Let that wrist heal while you can
  3. Braves catcher Tyler Flowers is beginning his rehab stint on Monday and we’ll have him back soon
  4. The weather/field conditions were going to suck and the probability of an injury would be higher
  5. Ronald Acúna Jr will most likely be up by May 28th
  6. If this game didn’t get rained out, the Braves would have played 20 straight games without an off day
  7. After that great game last night, we could have had a little “hangover”
  8. May 28th is Military Appreciation Day…let’s celebrate with two games instead of just one!

Next: Did you see the Braves walk off bunt?

So there you go, yes I would have loved to play todays game, but there are some positives.  Just seeing the light in the tunnel!

Braves will head to Cincinnati now to play the 3-17 Reds.  The weather isn’t looking great right now there, but hopefully it will clear up by game time which is scheduled for 6:40pm ET.
