There is a consensus #1 pick this year, but after that the draft appears to be wide open.

The Atlanta Braves are picking 8th at somewhere around 8pm on June 4th.  They will not be getting Auburn’s Casey Mize unless his right arm falls off between now and then… and maybe not even then.

I am already on record as suggesting that Alex Anthopoulos will reach into his not-so-wayback machine and draft a pitcher that he couldn’t sign for the Blue Jays 3 years ago:  Brady Singer of the Florida Gators.

But that’s just 2 names that will be called – at some point – in 3 weeks.  How about some other opinions on the subject?

On Mondays, he is producing a mock MLB draft report, and it’s good to get his perspective on what to expect.

The names will juggle from week-to-week, but there’s always a rationale for why any given team might be interested in any given player.

Let’s take a look at what he’s said about potential picks for the Braves thus far…
