All of a sudden, the Braves are being offered a bunch of suggestions for ways to improve their club.  Here’s another short-sighted idea that could end up being a disaster.

The Atlanta Braves should contact the Toronto Blue Jays about trading to Mike Soroka to them in order to receive their best arm in return:  Marcus Stroman.

I’m not actually saying that… instead, this comes from former Brave and perennially popular manager-candidate-in-waiting Mark DeRosa today on the MLB Network.

Well that’s a nice group photo, but it would also be a nice group with Soroka included.  But “tis the season of bad ideas” (hey – in fairness, we’ll probably have a few of them, too) and this is the newest public one.

It was just a couple of days ago that the Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo (link is here, though subscription is required) threw out his latest piece of total speculation about the Braves and an almost certain link to Mike Moustakas.  Well, yeah… that could happen…but it wasn’t a rumor: it was just chatter.  And besides, Cafardo is always wrong about the Braves.

But this bit from DeRosa seems to be equally out of left field… except for the obvious connection between Alex Anthopoulos and the Blue Jays.  I’d have to guess that it won’t be the last attempt to gin up some sort of symbiosis between the Braves and Jays.

By while we’re here, let’s at least go through the process… admittedly, this might actually be a little closer of a call than my knee-jerk first reaction.
