The Atlanta Braves, for all intents and purposes, have exceeded expectations all around this season. The best and biggest expectation exceeded is Nick Markakis.

We’ve reached the 2/3rds point of the season. The non-waiver trade deadline has passed. It’s the first full week of August, and the Atlanta Braves have a clear-cut MVP on their hands. His name, is Nicholas William Markakis.

For those of you that don’t know me, or follow me on the Twitters, I am, in every sense of the word, a Kakes fanatic. I love the dude. I don’t care about advanced metrics, or even really the standard stats when it comes to Kakes. The man is a ballplayer. Period!

However, we all know that just watching a guy play can tell you a little bit about his make-up, but it doesn’t tell you the whole or full story. So, let’s look at just what Nick has done in the scope of his metrics and standard stats.

Let’s start by looking at his 2017 numbers. I think, once we’re all said and done here, you may be a little surprised at a few things.
