The Atlanta Braves made a number of moves before the non-waiver trade deadline. Who could Braves rumors target via waivers in August?

July 31st has come and gone and so has the non-waiver trade deadline. The Atlanta Braves made a flurry of moves in the days leading up to the deadline, but could possibly still make more during the month of August. In this article, we are going to dive in and take a look at some players who could potentially be in Braves rumors. It is important to keep in mind that for all AL players on waivers, the Braves would have second to last priority on claiming them, and for NL players, the Braves would have 14th priority on the claiming availability

Francisco Liriano, LHP, Detroit Tigers

Francisco Liriano has a history of being both a starter and a reliever. While not as dominant as he was with the Twins and Pirates, every team could use more bullpen help, especially a left-hander. Playing behind a bad Tigers club, his numbers aren’t too impressive, however, left-handers are only 9 for 69 against him this year. He could be a lefty specialist come September and October for the Braves.

Derek Holland, LHP, San Francisco Giants

Any team will tell you, you never have too many bullpen pieces. Derek Holland, like Liriano, could start or come on in relief. Holland has held lefties under a .200 average for the season. Holland is also averaging almost a strikeout per inning. Holland has also pitched better on the road than at home this season as his road era is 3.80.

Addison Reed, RHP, Minnesota Twins

Addison Reed has not been very good this year, but as the old adage goes..does he just need a change of scenery? This season is the first year in basically Reed’s entire career where he has been dismal. Could Chuck Hernandez and the Braves have the cure to fix him? This could be a buy low-huge reward deal.

Marco Estrada, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Marco Estrada is sometimes just plain hard to figure out. He can sometimes look like a bonafide ace and sometimes just look plain lost. The Braves could use Estrada to deepen the starter pool they have and to possibly take the load off of some of the kids, if they choose to do so. The question is would other teams let Estrada even get through waivers all the way to the Braves?
