With just a couple weeks left in the 2018 season, which Atlanta Braves could end up with hardware for their work this year?

As the season is nearing a close, a ton of Atlanta Braves players have a legit shot at taking home some awards for their work this year. We are gonna go through a few of them in this article.

Rookie of the Year

It’s a 2-man race at this point and I think Acuna is slowly making it a one man race actually. I do believe Ronald Acuna is clearly the frontrunner for this award after his monstrous August. Juan Soto may have been leading the field, but Acuna has passed him. Other contenders would include Brian Anderson of the Marlins and Harrison Bader of the Cardinals

MVP

This one is probably the toughest of any award to gauge this year. As many as 10 players could make a case to be the NL MVP, in my opinion, this year. Among those, is, of course, Freddie Freeman. He is currently still listed as the leader among oddsmakers. It may very well come down to who finishes hot these last 3 weeks. Other contenders include Christian Yelich, Javy Baez, Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, Rhys Hoskins, Matt Carpenter, Aaron Nola, Jacob deGrom, and Max Scherzer.

Manager of the Year

There is no doubt in my mind that if the Braves make the playoffs, that Brian Snitker will win this award. This award usually goes to the manager of the team that really is just most surprising as we all know. Snitker does very much deserve this award though.

Cy Young

Just being frank, the Braves do not have a pitcher that will win this award or most likely even place in the top 5. I do, however, expect Mike Foltynewicz to get a little love and finish in the 8th to 10th range, which is still great considering some of the incredible NL pitcher years this season.

Gold Glove

I expect Ender Inciarte to win another gold glove. I also expect Dansby Swanson to take home one. Freddie Freeman could very well be in the race here as I see first base being tight. Lastly, I think Johan Camargo should be shown some consideration despite his rough week last week, his numbers as a whole are good, but I expect Arenado will take it home for third base.

Silver Sluggers

Freddie Freeman could win this award along with the Gold Glove and MVP honor. That would be quite a haul. Ronald Acuna could win a Silver Slugger, but it remains to be seen if his rookie status and time missed will play any part. Ozzie Albies and Nick Markakis will surely get some consideration but I expect their production in the second half could prevent them from winning.

dark. Next. Should Braves trade for Trout?

So that’s a recap of which Atlanta Braves players could be taking home some hardware come November. Hopefully, it will be right after they all celebrate winning a World Series.
