Even with the Donaldson signing, the Atlanta Braves will have a place for their young infielder

Pitch clocks, batters taking too long in the box, extra innings, mound visits – these are some of the things that we hear about the pace of the game, well let’s add offseason moves! The season has felt like it has ended a lifetime ago and I have been waiting to see some action from our beloved Atlanta Braves.

The Atlanta Braves made a big splash by bringing in former MVP Josh Donaldson, and my first reaction was a loud scream full of profanity ending with a LFG!!!!

Then as I started to analyze, I thought wait so is Johan Camargo on his way out? Is Austin Riley on the move? Or is Dansby Swanson the odd man out? When a big move happens more times than not there is another shoe to drop and speculation of Johan being traded was all over Braves Twitter.

More from Tomahawk Take

Personally, I think Johan Camargo can be a good player on this team and with his youth, there is no reason to sell low and trade him away unless we are getting back a front-end type ace. Let’s not forget that Donaldson has not been the model for perfect health recently either, so keeping Johan on the team can only improve the depth of the team.

After watching the introductory press conference by Alex Anthopoulos, he stated how much he wanted a middle of the order power bat and stressed that he spoke to Johan about playing all over the field that this trade did not mean that he was on his way out. With all due respect, if I were to believe every word that a baseball executive said when it came to roster management, I would be pretty foolish.

Although this team is young we forget that 162 games is a long season and having a player that can play that Chris Taylor, Ben Zobrist, Brock Holt type role is important. We saw how the offense on this team started to fade in the second half of the season and that might have been the case from the players being tired.

Next. Braves long-term plan at catcher. dark

Donaldson is a great piece to what we hope to be a championship team but a player like Camargoat is one that all of the upper echelon teams in the MLB have and that is what the Atlanta Braves are becoming.
