Atlanta Braves: What We Know After the Winter Meetings

With the Winter Meetings coming to an end on Wednesday, we look at what we now know about the Atlanta Braves going forward.

It was a pretty quiet Winter Meetings for everyone, but especially for the Atlanta Braves. Alex Anthopoulos kind of hinted that there wouldn’t be much action this week for the Braves, and the fact that he left early tells me he wasn’t close to doing anything.

That’s perfectly fine for the Braves as their top targets are still available, and no other big names came off the board.

There were several pitchers that came off the board in Nathan Eovaldi, Lance Lynn, Charlie Morton, and Joe Kelly and J.A. Happ.

However, none of those are aces — in my opinion — and I don’t think the Braves were highly interested in any of those pitchers.

If the Braves get a starting pitcher this offseason, I think it will have to be through a trade.

The reliever market has yet to take off outside of Jeurys Familia going back to the Mets.

Andrew McCutchen signing with the Philadelphia Phillies was the only real loss for the Braves at the Winter Meetings. I think Cutch would have been a great fit for Atlanta, but they weren’t willing to go to that third year that the Phillies gave him.

But there are still plenty of outfield options out there for the Braves as the offseason continues.
