Until baseball wakes up and creates a balanced schedule in baseball, it will never be equal for every team. Let’s see what the Atlanta Braves will face in 2019.

It seems like the Atlanta Braves always draw the short straw when it comes to interleague play. Whenever the AL West is the best, that’s who the Braves play. Whenever an AL division is down, that’s not who the Braves play.

For years we were stuck playing the AL East all the time with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox beating up on us. The league finally got wise and started rotating divisions, but either way, I still hate interleague play.

The Atlanta Braves get the benefit of playing the AL Central this year. Let’s hope they don’t have a rejuvenation after being the worst division in baseball last season.

Let’s break it down month-by-month to see how difficult the Atlanta Braves 2019 schedule might be with what we know halfway through the offseason.

March/April

The season gets underway in March as the Braves start with three on the road again the Philadelphia Phillies. At this point I still don’t see the Phillies as a serious contender, but if they land Manny Machado or Bryce Harper that could change.

And then the Braves come home to face the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs will be an interesting team in 2019, but I still think they’re the favorites in the NL Central.

The Braves have three games against the Marlins in April, the only team that month that we know is absolutely tanking. They also have three against a Diamondbacks team who could go into rebuild mode.

They have six games against the Rockies who are still a question mark but should be a solid team. And why we continue to go to Colorado in April is beyond me.

We have to go to Cleveland, which will be a tough series. And then there are four against the Mets and three against the Reds — two teams who have made moves to compete this offseason.

The Braves end the month with two against the up-and-coming Padres.

Prediction: 18-12
