Atlanta Braves Morning Chop: rumors of pursuit of Realmuto pits employer against employee
Possible Asking Prices?
Here are 3 thoughts on the matter. It may be noteworthy that Mish only mentions the Dodgers and Braves when discussing names that could be involved (for Houston previously, it’s been all about Kyle Tucker or Forrest Whitley, but there’s been no chatter on that front for quite a while).
So the demand is Cody Bellinger (plus more) from the Dodgers. Previously, the demand from the Braves had been Ozzie Albies, but that will not be done. I’m not at all expecting that Austin Riley would be offered either.
Ian Anderson is looking like a possible frontline pitcher of the future, but – personally – I would put him on the table if the Marlins would bite.
My offer would be something like this:
- Ian Anderson
- Crisitian Pache
- Tyler Flowers
- Max Fried
- plus a ‘lesser’ prospect with upside like Derain Cruz, Thomas Burrows, Huascar Ynoa, Patrick Weigel.
…to receive both J.T Realmuto and either reliever Adam Conley (LHP) or Drew Steckenrider (RHP).
That should be enough to entice the Marlins to bite, while not killing the farm system completely and filling a couple of holes in one deal.
Still, given the current rosters of the Dodgers and Braves, there will be little motivation from either to fully meet the Marlins’ demands for top talent, though each side definitely has enough secondary pieces to put together a package, so it very likely comes down to whichever group that Miami prefers.
In all seriousness, I would have to believe that this knock-down/drag-out saga is now down to its last week. Let’s hope so.
