2. Hunter Renfroe

This is a name that hasn’t really been thrown around this offseason, but the fact is true that the San Diego Padres have a surplus of outfielders, and it has been rumored that they will look to move at least one of them.

When I first was putting this article together I had Wil Myers here, but then I looked that horrific contract he has ($73 million over the next four years).

So I looked to the next best option on the Padres and that’s Hunter Renfroe.

The big right-handed corner outfielder was taken 13th overall in the 2013 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State University — you know I love guys from Braves Country.

He put together a couple of solid minor league season where he hit around .270 with around 20 home runs before he broke out in Triple-A during the 2016 seaon when he hit .306 with 30 home runs.

That 2016 season really put him on the prospect map, and he made his major league debut later that year.

The past two seasons in San Diego he’s hit 26 home runs in each season despite only playing in 122 and 117 games respectively.

His career average in the major leagues is not great at .245, and his on-base percentage is even worse at .296.

But he’s still a young guy at 27, and he’s controllable for five more seasons.

Because of that, I think the price for Renfroe might be higher than I’d want to pay. Plus, the Padres are looking for a third baseman and I’m not sure I’d be willing to give up Austin Riley for him.

But I really think if the Braves can get Renfroe and put him in right field every day, he could become a really good player in Atlanta.
