Trade Candidates

The trade route has more often than not been the avenue many that cover the Braves thought was how the club would fill the outfield opening.

Contrary to the free agent pool, there are several intriguing options on the trade market.

The Mariners’ Mitch Haniger makes the most sense because of his age and production, plus the Mariners would seem to want high-end pitching prospects coming back and the Braves have a stable of those.

However, Seattle has made it known that it has no intention of moving Haniger, but the Braves had no intention of trading Craig Kimbrel a few years back and we all know what happened there.

Back to the Desert

Another option and in my opinion, the more plausible one, is David Peralta of the Diamondbacks.

He hit 30 homers last year, plays for a team that is “kind of” rebuilding and is a free agent after the 2020 season, when Cristian Pache will presumably be ready.

But the Diamondbacks have reportedly rejected the Braves overtures for Peralta.

Nick Castellanos of the Tigers, too, has been somebody the Braves have had their eye on and reports also stated Detroit’s asking price was high for the offensive-minded and defensive-inept outfielder.

Fred’s Ideas

As Fred Owens wrote early last week, the Padres have a couple of outfielders that fit the power hitting need of the Braves in Hunter Renfroe and to a lesser extent due to money, Wil Myers.

Back at the beginning of the off-season, Fred had also written about Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario… since he had traded for this player as part of our FanSided Winter Meeting simulation.

At that time, he acquired Rosario (and young prospect RHP Andrew Cabezas) in exchange for Julio Teheran, Kolby Allard, and Shane Carle.

As for the player who has not been publicly discussed?  Starling Marte? Aaron Hicks? Joc Pederson? Kyle Schwarber?  Rosario?

Mike Tro…just kidding… mostly.
