As we near February, that means two things: that Atlanta Braves Spring Training is getting close and that we are almost to the point where people will be doing their fantasy baseball drafts

Most Sites will open up their registration for fantasy baseball probably a few days into February. We are going to look at which players the Atlanta Braves have that are worth drafting and where you should expect them to go. Let’s start with the big boys, shall we?

The Best that we have

Ronald Acuna, Jr.

If you are in a keeper league, unless you drafted him last year expecting him to produce like he did, you aren’t getting him. However, if you are in a standard 12 team yearly league you might have to grab him in the first round, early second round at worst.

Ronald Acuna, Jr. is, if healthy, assuredly going to produce big numbers again and should be well worth his draft position. Almost any ranking I have seen so far has him listed in the 10th to 15th overall and the 5th or 6th rated outfielder.

The last comment I’m going to make goes without saying pretty much, but I’m going too anyway. If you are in a keeper league that is starting this season, draft Acuna if at all possible.

Freddie Freeman

The other big-time player the Braves have for fantasy purposes is none other than Freddie Freeman. Freddie is mostly projected to go in the middle to late round 2 of everything I have seen thus far. Freeman will obviously produce and give you statistical advantages in most every category that is scored for fantasy purposes.

Every site has Freeman as one of the top 2 first basemen in the league flip-flopping him with newly acquired Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Whether you think Freddie belongs as the first one off the board is up to you, as either is an awesome player to have on your team.

Ozzie Albies

Ozzie Albies is kind of a crapshoot. If you get first half Ozzie, he will be a fantasy stud, but if he has any long stretches like his second half, then some days you will be pulling out your hair.

Just like the real-life Atlanta Braves, fantasy owners will need a more consistent Albies to produce. Albies probably won’t wow anyone with his stats, but he can give owners above-average production with runs, steals, and should be able to hit some home runs and get RBI’S, and all that from a second baseman is wonderful.

As far as draft status and Ozzie go, one should expect him to go in the 5th or 6th round range. Being honest, I’m not quite sure I would be ready to draft him that high for my team. I do agree with most publications that he is the 5th or 6th rated Second Baseman for fantasy purposes.
