A look at what Lindy’s says about the 2019 Atlanta Braves

With the 2019 season approaching, industry-wide restlessness and hot takes are a reoccurring theme.  Most folks talking about baseball have some kind of prediction or projection to push. Some can be pretty outrageous, but some are actually knowledgeable and provide a reputable source .

I don’t know why Publix supermarkets have routinely been a sponsor of the Atlanta Braves, but maybe that will explain some of what I’m about to relate to you.

If you’ve ever grocery shopped at your local Publix I’m sure you are aware of the pet food aisle. Now you may be wondering what dog food has to do with baseball, but there must be some sensible correlation.

At my Publix the pet food aisle not only features your favorite dog and cat treats, but a small section dedicated for books and magazines.

I have no idea why Publix stages novels, health magazines and sports content on this aisle, but maybe they have years of crowd-sourcing data to back this up. Need some food for your pet?…How about a book on how to lose 15 pounds?

Nonetheless, this is where I pick up my Lindy’s Yearly Annual.

Lindy’s Sports was founded in 1982 by – well of course Lindy Davis. The sports magazine is actually based here in Braves Country, in Birmingham, AL.

According to Wikipedia:

"Lindy Davis is its publisher and founder, having started the magazine when he was a 26-year-old student at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law."

Do the Lindy

Lindy’s Sports covers more than just baseball. They cover the NFL, NBA, NCAAF and even fantasy sports. While I’ve never read any of their other sports’ magazines, I have been buying their baseball annual for several years now. They do a good job of providing in-depth analysis on each team for the upcoming seasons.

They also provide projections and point of views from former big league front office employees and executives. They’ve got some good stuff in these magazines. You will also find articles from popular baseball writers in the magazine – including the sabermetric expert Bill James.

It’s just an all around great way to read up on all major league teams and gain more knowledge on not only what their upcoming season may look like, but also what prospects you should be looking for and which players you should be interested in for fantasy baseball purposes.

So given how the Braves’ GM, Alex Anthopoulos, is having a blast keeping us out of the loop in regards to any future activity from the Braves this off-season – I thought it would be a good time to share with you what I’ve learned from this magazine. I purchased it a couple weeks ago and have read through about half of it – making sure to of course read the Braves’ pages first.

So lets see what Lindy’s Sports said…
