As we get ready for Opening Day this week, we look at the top five storylines to watch this season for the Atlanta Braves.

Every year we see multiple storylines play out in the season that make-or-break a team, and the Atlanta Braves have plenty of big storylines going into the 2019 season.

I found an article from David O’Brien — then of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution — with the top five storylines of the 2018 season.

Some of the things listed in the article were the emergence of young arms, the arrival of Ronald Acuna, what will happen with Brian Snitker, where will the power come from, and a second full season of Dansby Swanson.

We saw three of those playout during the season with Acuna coming up, Snitker winning Manager of the Year, and the Braves finishing fifth in the NL in home runs.

The young arms and Swanson are still two big storylines going into the 2019 season that we’ll look at later.

Of course, there will be some storylines that develop throughout the season. But for the most part, we know the stories that will define the 2019 season for the Atlanta Braves.

And as much talk as there has been about the other teams in the NL East, the Atlanta Braves control just how good they’ll be this season.

I don’t care what the Phillies, Nationals, and Mets did this offseason, and what the Braves didn’t do, if they play like they’re capable of they’ll be back in the postseason.

But if these things we’re about to mention go well for the Atlanta Braves, we could be celebrating even more in 2019.
