Here is our preview of the Atlanta Braves upcoming series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, a team that has struggled out of the gate this season.

The Atlanta Braves host a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks beginning Tuesday and before the season this is the type of series that needs to be won.

There are only a few teams in the National League who aren’t expected to at least be competitive and the Diamondbacks are one of them.

Arizona is off to a 7-9 start in a division that is top-heavy with the Dodgers and Rockies (if the Rox can get moving, that is) and perhaps the Padres.

The Snakes have dropped four of their last six games, including three of four to San Diego.

It looked like the Diamondbacks were going into a full-rebuild this past off-season, as they traded Paul Goldschmidt to the Cardinals, but they chose to hang on to other assets like the red-hot David Peralta (.373) and Zack Greinke.

Happily, the Braves will miss Greinke this time – he pitched (and won) on Sunday.

Meteorology Matters

The weather forecast looks promising as Tuesday and Wednesday night are forecasted to have clear skies and temperatures in the 60s.

Thursday is a day game, so the incoming weather threat should hold off until the evening when thunderstorms are likely.

This is a perfect time for the Braves to continue the momentum they built after winning the final two games of their series with the Mets.

Here are the pitching matchups…
