Atlanta Braves: 3 trade proposals to improve the bullpen now
It’s early in the 2019 season, but the Atlanta Braves need external help in the bullpen. Here are three possible trades to get that done.
Alex Anthopoulos and the Atlanta Braves cannot worry about the past. If AA is being honest, I think even he would have to admit that he probably should have done something (anything) to improve the bullpen this past offseason.
But he didn’t, and here we are with one of the worst bullpens in the league.
Part of me can understand why Alex wanted to give the guys on the team a shot. A lot of them are young guys with great stuff, but they haven’t proven they can control that stuff at the Major League level.
That’s why it was imperative this past offseason that he get some veterans in the bullpen to help these young guys along.
I think Darren O’Day could certainly have been that guy, but who knows if we’ll ever even see him pitch in a Braves uniform.
But fortunately for the Atlanta Braves, the bullpen is a lot easier to fix during the season than in the offseason.
What’s not fortunate, is that many teams probably aren’t ready to give up on the season this early and trade their relievers.
The challenge for the Atlanta Braves right now may be identifying teams who know they aren’t going to compete this year and are willing to part ways with one of their best bullpen options.
A list of those teams includes: Baltimore, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City, Miami, and hopefully San Francisco.
