The game took a big 180 during the seventh inning for the Atlanta Braves and was another example of something that has frequently happened this season.

It was a game of cannons on Saturday night between the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies with both teams producing a combined five home runs.

The Atlanta Braves, however, didn’t have enough fire power to cover for the pitching as they lost 9-5 after entering the ninth WITH the lead.

Mike Foltynewicz made his season debut for the club and had a good outing for the most part.

It did come a bit undone in the seventh. He gave up a triple to David Dahl to start the inning and an RBI single to Ryan McMahon.

A double from Raimel Tapia put runners at second and third, thus taking Foltynewicz out of the game. He ended the night on 78 total pitches.

Initially, Freddie Freeman gave the Braves the early lead with a two-out homer to right during the first inning.

The Rockies responded with a Nolan Arenado homer in the second to tie it up.

Ender Inciarte got the lead back for Atlanta with a solo homer in the second inning, but the Rockies tied it again in the fourth with a homer from Daniel Murphy.

The Second Half

The Braves offense kicked it up a notch literally immediately in the bottom of the fifth as Ozzie Albies hit a double off the first pitch.

Johan Camargo got away with one after, as he slid in (don’t understand why he keeps doing it) for an infield single, though replay showed he should’ve been called out, but Rockies didn’t challenge.

More from Tomahawk Take

Freeman struck out swinging before Ronald Acuña Jr. lined a single to drive home Albies and Camargo. Camargo had stolen second when Freeman struck out to be in scoring position. Nick Markakis followed behind with a double to score Acuña giving the Atlanta Braves a 5-2 lead.

When Foltynewicz was struggling in the seventh, Luke Jackson entered and did exactly what he’s be doing so well lately…putting out the fire.

He got a ground out from Tony Wolters even though that drove in a run. He went on to get a line out and another grounder to end the inning. Braves still had a lead at 5-4.

Jackson came back out for the eighth and was put to the test against Trevor Story, Murphy and Arenado. He got all three to ground out. He’s really turned a corner you guys and let’s hope it continues.

The same can’t be said about A.J. Minter who has yet to get back into his closer potential.

The Braves entered the ninth still with the lead but Minter allowed a lead-off double. After a couple battles, he struck out McMahon and Tapia.

However, he gave up back-to-back walks to Ian Desmond and Drew Butera to load the bases. A first-pitch double from Charlie Blackmon scored two and would be it for Minter.

Next to come out was Dan Winkler and he allowed a three-run homer to Story who entered the at-bat at 0-4 on the night. -INSERT SHAKING HEAD IN DISAPPOINTMENT GIF-

Pinch-hitting, Josh Donaldson got a walk to start the Braves’ ninth but a fly-out from Albies and a line-out double-play at first from Camargo ended the game. Braves lose to Rockies 9-5.

The Braves suffered another disappointing loss late in the game. The Braves have now led in 11 of their 14 total losses this season.

The “We Want Kimbrel” chants made a return after the lead loss as well as “Kimbrel” appearing as a Twitter trend.
