The Atlanta Braves are in the midst of a pretty tough string of games and it continues with a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Including the Atlanta Braves last three opponents (Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Cardinals) and their next one in the Brewers, the combined records of those four teams is 103-76 coming into Friday’s action.

This weekend will be another big challenge for the Braves as they could be facing a team they’ll be battling over a Wild Card spot with.

They’ve really helped out the Atlanta Braves this year as the Brewers are 11-2 against the NL East so far this season. Hopefully they don’t continue that trend against the Braves this weekend.

Game 1 –  Jhoulys  Chacin vs Max  Fried

After a dominating start to the season, Max Fried has cooled off a good bit in his last two starts giving up 7 earned runs in just 6 innings pitched.

You honestly have to wonder how that dive into home against the Marlins is affecting him, combined with taking a line drive off the arm.

You know the Atlanta Braves will be looking to limit his innings this season. If he has another bad start on Friday it might be a good idea to let him sit on the IL for a little while to regather himself.

When Fried is on he’s able to get ahead with his mid-90s fastball to setup his devastating curveball. But in this past two starts, he hasn’t had the same feel for his curveball.

The 25-year-old lefty has made one start against the Brewers in his career and gave up 4 runs in just 3 innings.

But not many players on the Brewers current roster have faced him. No surprise, but Christian Yelish is 2-for-5 off Fried.

Jhoulys Chacin has been around the block a few times and is a veteran pitcher.

Over the previous three seasons, he’s made three starts against the Braves and is 1-2 with a 3.32 ERA in 19 innings with 14 strikeouts.

Freddie Freeman is 5-for-13 off the right-handed pitcher with a couple of home runs. Fellow left-handed hitter Nick Markakis is 4-for-10 off Chacin, so look for both of those guys to have good nights on Friday.
