Mock MLB Draft 2.0 has been released by Fangraphs, and this latest list now includes the Atlanta Braves first round compensation pick.

Over the last month or so, we here at Tomahawk Take have reviewed several different mock drafts, going a step further in an attempt to collect more information on some of these potential draftees for the Atlanta Braves, especially players projected to go in the first round of the MLB Draft.

The 2019 MLB Draft is now roughly three weeks away and as that June 3 date inches closer and closer, I’m hopeful we have all gained at least a moderate amount of knowledge in terms of this year’s class.

There’s no need for a long introduction, as we all know how these reports are structured. So let’s get to it.

On Tuesday, Fangraphs extended their Mock Draft 1.0 by releasing their completed first-round list with Mock Draft 2.0.

If you’ve never had the chance to read the reports that Eric Longenhagen and Kiley McDaniel put together covering Minor League and draft prospects, you have been terribly deprived of some fantastic analysis.

The amount of tireless detail and precision that these two put into their work is truly amazing. Also, the two regularly provide nugget-filled podcasts on Fangraphs, sharing even more specifics regarding Minor League and amateur talent.

Not to plug their work too aggressively here, but I highly recommend checking them out if you’re interested in obtaining a further grasp of such things.

Anyways, back to their list.

This latest release is simply an extension of their previous work, now spanning the first round in its entirety.

The first 32 picks in the list include the player, along with an excerpt that represents Logenhagen and McDaniel’s thoughts on each player.

Then, picks 33-41 just lists the player chosen and what team they predict to take such picks.

As mentioned before, the Atlanta Braves’ first-round picks are pick #9 and pick #21, with the former being their compensation pick stemming from last year’s failure to sign high school phenom, Carter Stewart.

I’m going to focus on the #21 pick in the Fangraphs list. A pick that wasn’t included in the previous version of their mock draft.

With the 21st pick in the first round, the Atlanta Braves are sandwiched in between the Seattle Mariners (#20) and the Tampa Bay Rays (#22).

The prospect experts predict the Mariners to take a high school shortstop from New Jersey, Anthony Volpe; and they predict the Rays to select third baseman, Keoni Cavaco, another prep star.

Now let’s look at who they have the Atlanta Braves pegged to select.
