The Atlanta Braves looked to sweep a very good Brewers ball club on Sunday.  Both starters were fantastic but it took another extra inning to decide who would win the game.

It was nice to see the Atlanta Braves get a 4-game winning streak going. They matched up this weekend with the Milwaukee Brewers for a preview of a potential playoff series later this year.

Fans were absolutely treated to a playoff atmosphere in each game of the series. Game three was no different as Mike Foltynewicz and Brandon Woodruff both pitched well and gave their teams an opportunity to win.

Both starters allowed 2 solo home runs but that was the majority of their mistakes.

The Atlanta Braves had home runs from Ronald Acuna Jr. and Freddie Freeman. Acuna Jr. hit an absolute moonshot into the Hank Aaron Terrace seats to even up the game at 1 a piece.

Unfortunately, these two homers wouldn’t be enough as Brewers left fielder Ben Gamel hit a go-ahead solo homer off of Wes Parsons on the first pitch in the top of the 10th inning to seal a 3-2 victory for Milwaukee.

Mike Foltynewicz was taken out of the game after 6 innings of work. It was a bit of a head scratcher however as Folty left after only making 67 pitches and hitting for himself in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Manager Brian Snitker may have just been trying to extend his bench since Donaldson had the day off.

At the time, I thought Mike had the opportunity to give us another inning and save the bullpen before heading out on a road trip out west.

But as it turns out after the game, Brian Snitker stated that Foltynewicz was dizzy after his at bat so they decided to just pull him and not risk anything.

Let’s discuss a few important takeaways from Sunday’s game.
