After a four-game set in San Francisco, the Atlanta Braves head to St. Louis to finish their season series with the Cardinals.

Just a week ago the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals met at SunTrust Park with the home team taking two-of-three.

That series did not get off to a particularly good start with the Cardinals blasting Mike Foltynewicz in game one and winning 14-3. But the Braves would outscore them 14-2 in the next two games to win the series.

The Atlanta Braves are 8-4 against the NL Central so far this season, and the only team they have a losing record against is the Cincinnati Reds.

It has been a really tough month of May for the Cardinals as they are just 6-14 entering Friday’s game after splitting a double-header on Wednesday with the Kansas City Royals.

A lot of that blame can be placed on the pitching staff who has a 4.72 ERA in May, but the offense hasn’t been much better hitting .243 on the month.

Surprisingly, the Atlanta Braves haven’t hit much better in May with a .250 average. But they’re averaging 4.7 runs per game.

On the season, Atlanta is third in baseball with a team batting average of 2.59, while the Cardinals are eighth at .257.

Atlanta’s pitching has been great in May with a 3.57 ERA and a .232 BAA.

Hopefully the current trend for both of these teams continues through the weekend as the Atlanta Braves continue to try and catch the Phillies in the NL East.

Let’s get into the pitching matchups for the weekend.
