MLB Power Rankings May 28th: Atlanta Braves creep up
By James Kunkle
We are about a third of the way through the season and it’s time to start separating who is for real and who is not in our weekly MLB Power Rankings.
With that said, let’s see where the Atlanta Braves and the rest of the teams stack up in this week’s MLB Power Rankings.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers still look like the class of the National League and at the moment, and seem to be the class of the entire Major League.
2. Houston Astros
The Astros offense has been a little down the last few games as they have only scored 5 or more runs once in the team’s last nine games. Oh, and now George Springer is down.
3. New York Yankees
The Yankees fleeced the Royals and Orioles last week going 6-1. Is it just me, or does it feel like the Yankees play the Orioles every night?
4. Minnesota Twins
Surprise! The Twins are pounding home runs at a fascinating rate and they also have the largest division lead in baseball as we are only days away from June.
5. Philadelphia Phillies
The team the Atlanta Braves are chasing. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy and the Phillies are playing good baseball thus far. Hopefully the Cardinals can get hot against them this week and the Phillies go to LA this weekend.
6. Tampa Bay Rays
The bad news is the Yankees and Red Sox are both getting hot. The good news is Tampa has a healthy wild card lead in the AL
7. Atlanta Braves
It was another good week for the Atlanta Braves, but hopefully we don’t come back to rue Saturday night’s game where we blew a late lead. Time to pick up ground as we play the lowly Nationals and Tigers this week.
8. Chicago Cubs
The previously red hot Cubs have cooled off some with a split against the Phillies and a series loss versus the division rival Reds.
9. Milwaukee Brewers
Christian Yelich continues to impress and continues to just keep mashing home runs at a rapid pace. He leads the game with 21.
10. Boston Red Sox
Rest in peace to Bill Buckner. A blessing that he was able to come back to Fenway a few years ago and get cheered like he did.
