Last year the Atlanta Braves acquired Kevin Gausman at the trade deadline as we all know. He was never mentioned much until a day or two before the deadline as being a target. Let’s look at some players who could interest the Braves who haven’t been mentioned yet.

Just like every other team, the Atlanta Braves have fans who want to sell the farm and get a couple immediate big time upgrades, while some fans want the team to acquire minor upgrades and not mortgage much of the future.

Among the 5 players about to be mentioned a couple of them might take a few of the big name prospects to acquire but most of these should come at a relative lower cost than the big names on the market.

Let’s start with a player who is having one heck of a rebound season.

5. Lance Lynn

Before a week ago, the Rangers probably had no intentions of being sellers but the team has faltered since the All-Star break and may have no choice but to stock up the farm a bit.

Mike Minor is the obvious target here, but there’s another solid candidate.

The Rangers signed Lance Lynn this off-season to a 3 year $30 million deal. So far, that signing has paid off hugely as Lynn has rewarded them with a 12-6 record and a 3.93 ERA. Lynn is also averaging more than a strikeout per inning and has kept the ball in the park as he has only allowed 13 HR’s this year. Keep in mind, that is while pitching in Texas.

Prospect wise, I would assume we would have to look right after the top 4 or 5 prospects we currently have. It might depend on if the Rangers want to eat any more of his contract. As mentioned earlier, any team looking at Lynn would control him for the next 2.5 seasons.

However, I do realize that Lynn was awful last year, but I think his 2019 season is more closer to the norm. He was a really good pitcher in his St. Louis days as well.

One more thing on Lynn, he has tons of history pitching in the postseason. It hasn’t been roses and peaches in October but he does have that résumé nonetheless.
