The Atlanta Braves won again Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds. The win extended the winning streak to three and the game was shortened due to rain.

Let’s get right to our three takeaway’s from the Atlanta Braves 4-1 win.

3. If not for a slow April, Josh Donaldson might be in MVP Race

Since the heated discussion with Joe Musgrove, Josh Donaldson has been the version of Josh Donaldson from Oakland and Toronto. He has been fantastic in his role and has been someone the Braves needed.

Like the earlier statement suggested though, if some of the balls Josh smashed back in April found some holes, he might be in the MVP category with Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich at this point.

That is all just based on his offensive output thus far, that doesn’t even include his defense which has been phenomenal — including a couple of outstanding plays in the game last night.

If it weren’t for Nolan Arenado already having his name on the trophy for the next few years, Donaldson might have a legit argument to be the favorite for the Gold Glove this year.

I know some weren’t happy with the amount of money we signed Donaldson for, but he has been an outstanding signing for the Atlanta Braves.

The question now is, will the Braves be interested in bringing Donaldson back, and vice-versa. I will write an article on that next week, but for now, let’s just be thankful that he is on the team this season.

After all, if you’re one that likes to look at WAR and base results off that, he has been the fourth best Brave this year, just slightly behind Mike Soroka, Freddie Freeman, and Ronald Acuna.

Again, just imagine if some of those rockets found the gap back in April.
