The Atlanta Braves came real close to going to yet another extra-inning affair but Miguel Sano and the Minnesota Twins had other ideas as they defeated the Braves 5-3.

Let’s get to the recap on a very frustrating night for the Atlanta Braves.

3. Mike Soroka pitched another good game

Mike Soroka retired the first 11 batters he faced and was rolling along until 4 straight “cheap hits” brought in two runs in the 4th. The positive is that while I’m sure it bothered him, you wouldn’t know it when he was on the mound. The composure this young man has is incredible.

Once again, he kept his pitch count down and was able to get through 7 innings of three-run ball. The third Minnesota run was a solo shot off the bat of Max Kepler.

Soroka is showing no signs of slowing down and the Braves have every reason to believe this is simply who the kid is and he will be able to handle the pressure and hopefully pitch big-time games in October as soon as this season.

While Soroka didn’t earn the win, he didn’t get the loss either. The result of that is that he still has yet to lose a game on the road this year. Another trait you want to see from the “Ace” 0f your staff. Yes, I would put that label on Soroka instead of Dallas Keuchel at this point.

Hopefully his road success will prove that a potential road game in the playoffs in a place like Dodger Stadium wouldn’t mess with the young Canadian.

It seems as if Soroka has been stuck on 10 wins for a while, so hopefully, the bats will wake up some in his next start and get him his 11th win of the season. Crazy to think the Braves are leaning on a brand new 22-year-old, but here we are, and hopefully he doesn’t slow down at all.
