The Atlanta Braves announced today that Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley are close to returning from the injured list soon.

For most Atlanta Braves fans, it was discouraging to lose both Austin Riley and Dansby Swanson to injury. It was tough due to just how well the team was meshing together and how they were performing.

While Riley and Swanson were struggling a bit offensively before going down, they were still missed. Swanson was batting .194 over his last 10 games before being injured and Riley was just slightly under that mark with a .196 average.  Swanson’s defense has been one of the things that have been missed the most.

However, Alex Anthopoulos and the Atlanta Braves front office were able to find suitable replacements for the holes in the lineup.

The Braves called up Adam Duvall to replace Riley as he was absolutely crushing the ball at Triple-A Gwinnett. They also acquired Adeiny Hechavarría after he was designated for assignment by the New York Mets.

However, Braves fans discovered some good news this afternoon after they learned Austin Riley was expected to take some swings today. Dansby Swanson has made some significant progress as well.

Swanson ran the bases and worked through some quick-stop movements to see how his heel was feeling. He also hit off the tee and will most likely take live batting practice before tomorrow’s game.

That is definitely a step in the right direction as it seemed Swanson’s injury hadn’t been healing at all.

This is an excellent sign for the Braves as they are going to want to try and get these two back to form as they try and make a playoff run in 2019.
