The Atlanta Braves looked to continue their winning streak as they welcomed the Toronto Blue Jays to SunTrust Park on Monday afternoon.

After a sweep of the Chicago White Sox, the Atlanta Braves hoped to continue that success against the Blue Jays.

The Braves certainly had their hands full with Toronto on a tough road trip last week. The young talent was on full display in that series.

However, with Mike Soroka on the mound again, you like his chances of rebounding from a tough outing against the same team.

Soroka has been one of the bright spots for this Atlanta Braves squad and it’s definitely hard to see him struggle. Although, that’s expected with a player as young as he is.

He wasn’t bad during Monday’s game but certainly lacked some control as he allowed 2 solo homers to the Blue Jays offense. Mike was able to complete 5 innings of work on

The Atlanta offense wasn’t necessarily overpowering on Monday as they notched just 6 runs on 3 hits. However, they were big hits from Josh Donaldson and Johan Camargo.

Donaldson launched a 2-run bomb in the bottom of the first and Camargo also hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning after Toronto committed their third error of the game allowing Donaldson to reach first base.

The Braves bullpen was excellent in relief on Monday afternoon. They retired 12 batters in a row across 4 perfect innings of work. That’s definitely something we need to be seeing more of.

Atlanta took game 1 of the series by a final of 6-3 and earned their 85th win of the season.

Let’s discuss some takeaways from Monday’s action.
