The Atlanta Braves struggled to solve the Royals on Tuesday evening. Kansas City has won all 3 games against Atlanta this season.

If you’re an Atlanta Braves fan, you’re probably happy that the Kansas City Royals are not in the NL Eastern division. Read that again.

Yes, you heard me right, the team that has had some of the most success against the Atlanta Braves in 2019 has been the Kansas City Royals.

I don’t know what it is but the Braves haven’t been able to solve the Royals. It’s often the teams who aren’t playing for much who compete the hardest. They are more relaxed and play with less pressure.

That was unfortunately no different on Tuesday evening as the Braves started their final road trip of the season at Kauffman Stadium.

Julio Teheran took the mound on Tuesday looking to bounce back from back-to-back losing performances. Seemed like Kansas City was the right team to do that against.

That didn’t happen though as the Royals chased Teheran from the game after 2.1 innings of work. He allowed 6 earned runs on 6 hits in that short time frame. His pitches just caught too much of the plate.

Atlanta’s offense did it’s best to narrow the margin but the Royals kept extending their lead each time the Braves would tally any runs.

The offense was led by Albies, Markakis, and Cervelli but outside of that, there wasn’t much to be celebrated.

Atlanta did it’s best at rallying back in the top of the 9th inning but fell short in the end as Kansas City took Game 1 by a 9-6 final score.

Let’s discuss some highlights from Tuesday’s loss.
