No more excuses, this Atlanta Braves team has to produce in 2020
After back-to-back seaons of winning the NL East and bowing out in the NLDS, there are no more excuses for this Atlanta Braves team.
In 2018 we all knew the Atlanta Braves were ahead of schedule and didn’t expect much from them in the postseason.
This season we thought it would be a little different, and while I don’t think many thought this Atlanta Braves team had what it took to win the World Series, they were at least the favorites against the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS.
Certainly the Atlanta Braves were dealing with a lot of injuries in this series. Who knows how differently it would have gone with a healthy Chris Martin, Freddie Freeman, Ender Inciarte, Charlie Culberson, and Johan Camargo.
But at some point the excuses for this team has to stop, and they have to put their foot on somebody’s throat.
The rebuild is over. Being young isn’t a good enough excuse. And everyone is banged up and dealing with injuries in the postseason.
Next season I hope this team comes into it with a whole need attitude.
I thought that was going to be the case after Brian Sntiker’s postgame speech when they clinched — talking about kicking doors down.
Next year this team needs to expect to win, they should expect to beat every team they play.
The talent is there, the money is there for the team to add where needed — we saw it this year.
They have to forget about the curse of Atlanta sports and put those demons behind them.
I believe in this team, the coaches, the front office, and the fans. This team and the city has what it takes to become a dominant force in the game of baseball for years to come.
But the time for excuses is over, and the days of saying ‘we’ll be better next year’ are over.
This team is great now and they need to belive they are great every time they step out on that field. I look forward to seeing this team playing with a brand new confidence in 2020.
Let’s go Braves. ChopOn.
