The Atlanta Braves have a number of players they’ll lose in free agency this offseason, but we look at five they could bring back.

As the free agency market heats up, there are five former Atlanta Braves players who are free agents that they could re-sign this offseason.

Obviously, everybody knows the big one in Josh Donaldson that we’ll talk about more later.

But there are four others besides him that could make a lot of sense to bring back for 2020 and potentially beyond.

The list of Braves players who became free agents this offseason includes: Donaldson, Dallas Keuchel, Chris Martin, Darren O’Day, Anthony Swarzak, Julio Teheran, Billy Hamilton, Jerry Blevins, Matt Joyce, Adeiny Hechavarria, Josh Tomlin, and Francisco Cervelli.

Outside of maybe Swarzak, I think a case could be made for just about all of them to be re-signed.

All of them performed very well at times for the Atlanta Braves in 2019, and some of them even exceeded expectations.

I mean, who thought Matt Joyce would be starting a postseason game for the Braves after they brought him in on the final days of Spring Training?

With Atlanta in need of a catcher, they could bring back Cervelli in some capacity after his great — but brief — stint in Atlanta.

And I know most fans are sour on Keuchel after his postseason performances, which really weren’t that bad, but if the Braves are scared of the qualifying offer on some free agents and don’t like the other veteran options out there, I could see them bringing Keuchel back on a two-year deal.
