With the winter meetings underway, will the Atlanta Braves consider trading for a power corner outfielder?
The Atlanta Braves have stated that they are focused on signing a third baseman this off-season. That plan mainly revolving around NL Comeback Player of the Year, Josh Donaldson.
However, with recent rumblings suggesting Donaldson could fall out of the Braves range of comfortability, the front office may be weighing their options via trade to fill their need.
There is the likelihood that Atlanta could consider signing a free-agent outfielder like Marcell Ozuna for example but I wouldn’t count on that happening.
David O’Brien of The Athletic (subscription required) reported on Monday that Alex Anthopoulos expressed the team is looking to add a big bat. They’d prefer it to come from a third baseman but that it could come from an outfielder as well.
Gonna start this Tweet again, sans typos:

Anthopoulos said #Braves still looking to add a big bat -- ideally at third base, but that it could also come in the form of an outfielder.
Also reiterated they want to add a defensive-minded backup shortstop.
Further, AA explained that they want to add a defensive-minded shortstop to backup Dansby Swanson. If you ask me, that guy is Adeiny Hechavarria. He should absolutely be brought back to this team as a fill-in for Dansby should he get hurt again.
So, if for some reason Atlanta is unable to re-sign Donaldson or trade for a power bat at the third base position, they should consider acquiring a slugging outfielder.
A guy that was rumored to be considered in a trade to Atlanta during the previous off-season is Los Angeles Dodger, Joc Pederson.
However, does it make sense to acquire Pederson and place him in the middle of Atlanta’s lineup? Obviously, this move is dependent on other factors occurring first but it’s certainly within the realm of possibility.
Let’s make a case for why he should or shouldn’t be picked up by Atlanta.
