At this point, it is obvious that the main target for the Atlanta Braves is to bring back Josh Donaldson for the 2020 season and beyond.

It is no secret that the Atlanta Braves need HAVE to have a player that can protect Freddie Freeman in the lineup and bat in the clean up spot.

Could the Atlanta Braves opt to go for a deeper lineup and go after a less powerful option for that spot? Perhaps, but that would not be wise in the minds of many, myself included.

As it stands today, the Braves are still one of the few teams that are in on Josh Donaldson’s free agent chase, and if reports are true, he will give the Atlanta Braves the last chance of all teams to match his highest offer.

It’s worth noting again, that it seems as if the holdup is on the number of years the Braves want to give to Donaldson.

He has a few 4-year offers already in hand, but maybe the Braves would like to cap it at 3?

Personally, I would throw in the extra year and get this done so we can all move on to other topics.

If you are like me, I fully expect the DH to be in the National League game before long, rendering another year to Donaldson much less risky.

However, as every team has, it’s best to have backup options. And yes, it would be easy for the Braves to maybe look to acquire the likes of Justin Turner, Kris Bryant, or Nolan Arenado but in reality, it’s fair to wonder just how realistic those deals would be.

Rumors have stated that the Braves may elect to go get another outfielder to fill the spot that would be vacated by the departure of Donaldson.

With that being said, we made a list of 5 outfielders who have mostly not yet been linked to the Braves in any sort of way.
