Filling the void

Obviously the biggest question still remaining for the Braves is who is going to fill the void in the lineup that has been left by Josh Donaldson.

And the likeliest and easiest solution to this is re-signing Donaldson as he’s still available.

The latest reports show the Braves, Nats, and Twins are all at four years with Donaldson and now it’s just who gives him the most money.

But even if they can’t bring back JD, Anthopoulos has to find someone to fill that void in the lineup. Kris Bryant and Nolan Arenado are obvious fallback options.

In my opinion, Arenado is impossible to trade for. Out of those two, I’d much rather trade for Bryant if he has two years left.

And it doesn’t necessarily have to be a third baseman to fill the void, they could look to the outfield as well.

Starling Marte and Trey Mancini are trade candidates we’ve been mentioning all offseason that Atlanta could look to in order to fill that void at clean-up.

I’m not high on free agents Marcell Ozuna or Nicholas Castellanos, but they could be options as well.

However AA chooses to do it, we can’t go into Spring Training without a big bat to place behind Freddie Freeman in the lineup.

In a perfect world, we’d get two more bats to put behind him, but at the very least there has to be a move for one big bat left this offseason.
