With Truist taking over SunTrust the Atlanta Braves were forced to change the name of their ballpark, which will now be known as Truist Park.

The name of the ballpark is a big deal for a lot of fans. You think back to your favorite parks and you know them by that name. Turner Field will also be special to me as an Atlanta Braves fan and that name means something to me.

I still haven’t gotten over the fact that the San Francisco Giants stadium isn’t called AT&T Park anymore.

While I didn’t love the name SunTrust Park, or any park name that’s associated with a company, I had become accustomed to associating that name with the Braves’ home park.

Hopefully Truist Park is the name that sticks for a while as it really is irritating as a fan when the name changes every five years.

Or better yet, hopefully Braves fans come up with a nickname for the stadium like “The Ted” that sticks no matter what the actual name of the stadium is in the future. I vote for the “The Hammer.”

Personally, this new name is absolute garbage. When we asked our followers on Twitter what they would name the park the majority of people said anything but Truist Park.

How unimaginative is that?

I know the Braves don’t have much control over this, but this was a great opportunity to create a cool name for the park that the fans could rally around.

As someone who loves ballpark names and associates moments with certain ballpark names, I’m going to have a hard time telling my children I witnessed the greatest player of all-time, Ronald Acuna Jr., play at Truist Park.

So come on Braves fans, let’s come up with a good nickname for the ballpark that we all can agree on. And let me know your thoughts on the new name in the comments below.
